Hello friends! Yesterday, the State of Missouri announced that they would be making significant changes to their data reporting dashboard. The new dashboard will be updated each Friday. I came to two conclusions after reviewing the new dashboard and metrics today. The first is that Missourians will still have access to data that enables decision-making about our safety. I hope this continues for the foreseeable future, given that the pandemic is most assuredly not over yet.
The second is that the changes are significant enough that I cannot simply update code to keep my website running. Regular readers may recall that I had planned to place River City Data on hiatus at the beginning of May. This decision did not reflect my view that COVID was ending but rather that my capacity for maintaining this project past two years was dwindling significantly.
However, given the changes, I am moving that hiatus up to today. I have already updated my website with the final round of new data. There will be some additional changes over the next month as I transition it to an archive and atlas of our state's first two years of COVID-19. However, I have no plans for additional data updates.
I want to thank each of you - whether you subscribed, followed on Twitter, or checked the site occasionally - for going on this journey with me. When I sent my first tweet out in March of 2020, I did not anticipate what the pandemic would become or how this project would evolve. Stay tuned to my Twitter account - I will be sharing my next steps as I move from thinking about COVID on a nightly basis to new challenges and projects. Until then, be well, and thank you again for following my data updates over the past two years. - Chris

Thank you Chris for all the hard work and expertise. We'll never be able to fully understand all the hard work and dedication needed to collect, organize and present the data such as you have. I appreciate your effort and expert analysis.
